Steven S. Anderson is Of Counsel at Kucker Marino Winiarsky & Bittens LLP, where he represents cooperative and condominium boards, property owners and other real estate clients in a broad range of transactional, governance and litigation matters.

With more than 35 years of experience representing New York cooperatives and condominiums, Steven serves as both general and litigation counsel, giving him a comprehensive perspective on the legal and business issues facing residential properties. His practice encompasses board governance, contracts and constituent documents, construction and architectural matters, sponsor and holder-of-unsold-shares disputes, managing agent issues, shareholder and unit owner disputes, proxy contests, discrimination claims, fiduciary duty matters and proceedings involving governmental and regulatory agencies.

Steven’s extensive litigation experience informs his approach to general counsel matters. He works with clients to identify potential disputes before they escalate and to develop practical strategies that protect their interests and advance their long-term objectives. When litigation becomes necessary, he draws on decades of courtroom and negotiation experience to handle complex and often longstanding disputes.

Throughout his career, Steven has represented properties of varying sizes and types throughout New York City, Westchester County and Long Island, including large residential developments of up to 1,700 units. He has also served on a panel of insurer-appointed counsel defending cooperative and condominium boards against claims involving alleged wrongful conduct and breaches of fiduciary duty and has lectured on cooperative-related legal issues.

Before entering private practice, Steven served in the New York City Law Department, where he worked in the Construction Litigation and Real Estate Litigation Divisions and served as Assistant Chief from 1985 to 1987. He later practiced with two private firms before establishing his own firm, where he practiced for more than three decades.

Steven earned his J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from Brandeis University.
